This Terms of Use and Disclaimer governs the use of the SICOM Group Website and the Customer Portal (both hereinafter referred as the ‘Sites’; the Sites shall also, if repugnant to the context, then refer to either the SICOM Group Website or the Customer Portal) both of which are operated by the State Insurance Company of Mauritius Ltd (hereinafter referred to as ‘SICOM’).
By accessing either of the Sites, you fully agree to be bound by these terms. In the event that you do not agree to be so bound, then you may not use the Sites, as your continued use thereof shall be deemed acceptance of these terms. SICOM reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify or remove the whole or parts of the contents of the Sites and these terms without any prior notice. You are encouraged to check these terms of use and conditions periodically to ensure that you are aware of the amendments thereto.
Disclaimer
Though all reasonable efforts to ensure that the information on the Sites is accurate and up-to-date, they may inadvertently contain technical, typographical or other inaccuracies and you are urged to contact us to confirm all information before placing any reliance on it.
SICOM makes no warranties or representations as to whether the Sites will be accessible at all times, that access will be uninterrupted, that they will be secure or virus free, or that any information submitted may not be intercepted by unauthorised third parties.
As regards insurance quotations, no guarantee is given that the information and/or materials provided meet your requirements. You should therefore not take any action or take any decision based solely upon the contents of the Sites. You are advised to effect proper verification of any fact, views, opinion or recommendation before taking any action or making any decision.
If you are making a claim, you should ensure that you submit any required information in respect thereof as accurately and truthfully as possible as any inaccurate information or false declaration will lead to a rejection of your claim. Please note that submission of required information does not signify acceptance of any liability on our part or that your claim has been admitted.
The use of the Sites is at your own risks and SICOM will not be responsible in any way for any error or downloaded materials and SICOM reserve the right to restrict or terminate your access to the Sites at any time and without notice.
Under no circumstances shall SICOM be liable for any direct or indirect, special, incidental or consequential damages that may arise from your use of, or inability to use, the Sites.
Products & Services
SICOM may advertise the Group’s services and products on the Sites, however this does not warrant that the services or products as featured are accurate, current, reliable, complete or error-free. Actual results may differ from forecasts, estimates and summary information due to changes in law and/or market conditions and/or inadvertent error.
The services and products featured on the Sites are governed by specific terms and conditions and are subject to the applicable agreement being duly executed.
Payment Procedures
If you are effecting an online payment through the Sites, you will be required to input your card details on the bank’s payment gateway, which is a secured platform for processing and approval.
You will be redirected from the Sites bank’s payment page/gateway which collects card information (whereby the cardholder shall input his/her card details) and the bank’s gateway shall send a message back to the Sites (landing page) showing if the payment was successful or not. The Sites and the bank’s payment site use encrypted Secure Socket Layer connections to keep all information secure.
Username and Password
Access to the Sites may require a username and password. You agree to keep your username and password confidential at all times, and not to disclose them to anybody. You may be asked to provide certain information (such as security questions and password hints etc.) in order to obtain your username and password and you agree to provide complete and accurate information.
It is recommended that you use a strong password and change it regularly. The Sites will automatically log you off after a period of inactivity and your account will be locked after a number of failed login attempts. If you think that your password has been compromised, then you should change the password immediately and inform SICOM.
You agree to, inter alia: provide your exact name when obtaining your username and not to impersonate another person; not to abet anyone in gaining unauthorised access to the Sites; notify SICOM of any known or suspected unauthorised use(s) of your username or password, or any known or suspected breach of security, including loss, theft, or unauthorized disclosure of your username or password as soon as possible after discovery.
Use of Contents on the site
All the contents on the Sites (including, without limitation, text, design, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio clips, downloads, interfaces, code and software, as well as the selection and arrangement thereof), are, wherever appropriate, the exclusive property of SICOM or its respective copyright owner and are protected by copyright, trademark and other applicable laws.
You may view, download and print contents from the Sites subject to the following conditions:
- The contents are used solely for your personal use;
- The contents are not modified or altered in any way;
- You do not republish or prepare derivative works therefrom without the written authorisation of the copyright owner;
- You do not use any of SICOM or companies forming part of the SICOM Group’s logo(s) without its express consent; and
- You do not acquire any ownership rights to any content on the Site.
Comments and Suggestions
You may submit comments and suggestions you may have and you may also submit other content, material and/or information provided:
- It is your real email address and that you do not impersonate any other person or provide any other information so as to conceal your true identity:
- It is accurate, reliable and appropriate and its use will not cause hardship to any person including any entity;
It is not unlawful, threatening, libellous, defamatory, obscene, scandalous, profane, against copyright laws and it does not constitute or encourage conduct that would be considered a criminal offence, give rise to any civil or criminal liability or violates any law or contain any form of political statements or commercial content or “spam”; - It does not contain any malicious software or viruses, worms Trojans or spyware etc;
SICOM will cooperate with law enforcement agencies or regulatory authorities requesting or directing it to disclose the identity of any person posting any prohibited/illegal content, material and/or information.
Content, material and/or information submitted by you is deemed to grant to the Company all proprietary rights thereon and as such may be amended, adapted, and/or used by it for any purpose, including but not restricted to the following: translation, reproduction, disclosure, transmission, publication, broadcast and posting in any media.
Any views, opinions or comments expressed by users of the Sites are their personal views, opinions and comments and unless specifically stated are not to be considered the views of SICOM or endorsed by them and SICOM may remove any such views, opinions, comments at its own discretion.
Vacancy
There may be vacancies advertised on the Sites but SICOM and the SICOM Group are not bound by such advertisement and reserves their right not to proceed with such vacancies or to fill any post so advertised.

Severability
If any provision of these terms of use is declared by a Court of law to be unlawful, void or unenforceable, the remaining provisions thereof will remain in full force and effect.
Applicable Laws
The laws of the Republic of Mauritius govern this Terms of Use and Disclaimer and you irrevocably submit to the jurisdiction of the Mauritian courts in relation to any action arising out of or relating thereto.
